- Word Count: 800 to 4,000 words—enough to reel in our readers but not so long that they need a bookmark.
- Theme: The choice is yours!
- Tone: Must be creepy, spine-chilling, and thrilling. Remember horror is the name of the game.
- Originality: Stories must be your own work, original, and unpublished. We want your unique terrors from the deep. If you are caught trying to submit someone else’s work, they will be notified and you will be banned from submitting any stories to the Sea of Nightmares.
- Formatting: Submit in .doc or .docx format.
- Language: English only, for now. As we grow, so will our team.
- Bio: Include a 50-word bio, or more, with your submission. Let us know who dares to navigate these dark waters.
- If we decide to use your story a team member will reach out to ask for links to published works and social media pages. We want to give you the attention you deserve.
- Rights: The Sea of Nightmares will hold no claim to your work. We’re just a place you can display it. You still own it.

- Editing: Never underestimate a second pair of eyes. Please have someone proofread your story before you submit it. We are a very small team. If your story is filled with too many major grammatical errors we will not be able to accept it.
- If there’s no one you know that can proofread it consider editing software or a freelance editor.
